TME's TOP PICKS: Children's shops

While the UK’s trusty big department stores are great for nursery furniture, toys and baby essentials, The Mama Edit team like to have a few unique pieces scattered around here and there. And there are a plethora of great independent children's online shops out there, with lots of timeless and trendy items to snap-up. Here’s some of our favourites.

How did parents exist before Kidly? This online kids' shop caters for newborns up to the age of 4 and is quite frankly awesome. In their own words “Having a baby is an extension of your style and identity, not the end of it”. Exactly. The website is easy to use and simply laid out, and every product comes with a parent/child review which is a nice touch. The products are cool, it covers lots of essential items and its own-brand Kidly clothes are simple but lovely. Check it out for yourselves.

Here at TME we love all things Scandi, which makes this website perfect for us. Divided up into interiors, furniture, playtime, clothes and mama & papa, Scandi Born contains a huge variety of Scandi-esque brands to choose from. Expect a lot of monochrome and effortlessly cool products (see above and below pictures.

Another fabulous find is The Modern Nursery, which has a great variety of brands and products to choose from. Some products sell out super fast so sign up to the newsletter to find out all the news first. TMN’s blog is also worth a look, the shop’s founder Laura provides lots of inspiration with posts such as how she restyled her daughter Alba’s nursery (see below).

A personal fave of mine here at TME. I stumbled across this brand on instagram just before the arrival of my son Finn and quickly snapped up Mokee’s cot, moses basket as well as lots of their bedding sheets and baby sleeping bag. Trendy and affordable it is a great brand. It has subsequently expanded into selling more nursery items, ranging from play gyms, shelving and an armchair (see below).

An old-timer in the baby online shop world, This Modern Life started out in 2011 under its old name of The Modern Baby. It’s one of my go-to places for nursery décor inspiration, and stocks everything from furniture to wallpaper. For those parents that like a bit of vintage as well as modern style, this will be the website for you (see below).
