The latest addition to the quirky Daisy Green Collection, Timmy Green specialises in Aussie-inspired casual café culture with a sophisticated edge. Think sunshine flavours, an award-winning banana bread sandwich, plenty of healthy juices and smoothies and an uncompromising attitude to quality coffee. So what better time of day to try it than for a weekday, mat leave brunch?
Not just reserved for weekends, brunch is served seven-days-a-week at Timmy Green which is great news for those of us who are suckers for sweetcorn fritters. Timmy Green’s Broccoli and Corn version certainly didn’t disappoint – a crisp outer layer surrounded a soft and flavoursome centre, all topped with a poached-to-perfection free range egg, avocado and a kick of house-made chilli pesto. Divine.
The restaurant’s location just over the road from Victoria station makes it a great central meeting spot whether it’s for a lunchtime gossip or post-work drinks while the numerous transport options of the overground or countless bus routes mean you can probably bypass the dreaded underground altogether.
There’s really not much to find fault with here. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff, the fact we had a baby in tow didn’t phase them one bit (in fact one even signalled to another making a coffee to keep it down as Theo was asleep – now that’s service!) Tables are quite tightly packed together for the most part though so there’s not a huge amount of buggy space considering the size of the venue – try to get the table by the disabled toilet for optimum space, or just around the corner for a little more privacy if breastfeeding.
Expect to pay around £50 for brunch for two people (if like us you go for a main dish, a smoothie and one of the delicious coffees) and with the generous portion sizes you probably wont be hungry again until dinner time.
This place has one of the nicer non-alcohol drinks selections we’ve come across making it ideal if your pregnant or trying to take it easy whilst breastfeeding. For brunch, our top picks were the refreshing Green detox juice (freshly squeezed cucumber, spinach, celery and apple), and the more indulgent Caffeine hit smoothie (banana, dates, coconut H2O, almonds, espresso and shaved coconut).
On the other hand, if you’re planning on exercising your right to hit the bottle, dive into the Bottomless Brunch offering – two hours of bottomless prosecco and mimosas alongside two courses for just £39.50 per person.
THE VERDICT: 9/10
Fresh, fast, friendly and full of Aussie front - Timmy Green is brunching at its best and we can’t wait to return!
